Budokwai Ladies Training Day

The Budokwai's first Ladies Training Day on Sunday 6th April was a great success. Taken by Simone Callender, Commonwealth Gold Medalist, the session started at 12.00 mid-day and finished at 2.30pm.

It was fun, and the work rate managed to help everyone raise a sweat with plenty of situational pressure training, contest skills and transition. There was also some structured Randori and a few games. We had a few cancellations because of the weather, a sudden, unseasonable arrival of snow, however, ladies managed to come from as far afield as Cambridge, Kent & the South Coast.

These Sunday afternoon sessions will, we hope become a regular feature at the Budokwai. We intend to have a number of regular Coaches for the session, which we hope will help you whether at under 48k, over 78k at Club, National or Masters level. The aim is to give women judoka a chance to come together as a group and train in an environment where the emphasis will be on enjoyment and improving technical ability. The idea behind this is so that everyone will improve regardless of level.

The Club would like to thank Simone for her time and expertise, and look forward to the next session. A special thanks to Jacqui Lloyd for all her hard work in organising these sessions, and to those of you who attended on the 6th. We hope to see all the judoka again at the next session. Please do not hesitate to contact the Reception for further enquiries and feel free to bring any other female judokas.

The next session will be on July 6th, and will be taken by Paul Ajala, former GBR international player. See Up and Coming Events section for further details.
