The Budokwai took a young team out to Helsinki for the 2008 Finnish Open.
Alex Farbon was the star of the show, following up on last weekends British title with a fantastic silver medal. He narrowly lost out to Canadian Olympian, Nick Tritton in the final after disposing of four strong fighters, notably a top Canadian and Frenchman, with the latter being thrown with a beautiful ashi- waza for ippon.
Jonathon Purssey, narrowly lost out for the Bronze medal and had to settle for 5th place. He won through to the semi-final, losing to the eventual Latvian gold medalist and then lost a controversial 5minute fight against an awkward Estonian. He looked a little jaded after a week's training camp in Sheffield with the British team.
Sean Dineen, lost in the quarter finals at u81kg and was unlucky not to proceed through the repecharge after a narrow loss to a fighter from Sweden.
